(CNN Spanish) - The professional tennis circuits for men and women have announced that their seasons will be suspended until June 7.

ATP and WTA released a joint statement describing the affected tournaments. Both circuits will resume from June 8.

Ratings will remain as they are; Novak Djokovic in the men's division and Ashleigh Barty in the women's division lead the rankings.

Along with ATP and WTA, the International Tennis Federation also announced the suspension of their tournaments.

“After careful consideration, and due to the continued outbreak of covid-19, all ATP and WTA tournaments in the spring season on clay courts will not take place as scheduled. This includes the combined ATP / WTA tournaments in Madrid and Rome, along with the WTA events in Strasbourg and Rabat and the ATP events in Munich, Estoril, Geneva and Lyon, ”the statement says.

"At this time, tournaments to be held starting June 8, 2020 will continue according to the published schedule."
