Appearances would have been planned in the coming days in Ohlstadt and Krün. Because of the Corona crisis they burst. That is why the Montelli Circus is in need. First he was stranded in Kochel, now he can stay in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen - It was a great wave of helpfulness that poured over the Montelli family and their circus of the same name in the past few days after the Tölz courier reported about the acute plight of the showman family and their animals. "It is so great what we have experienced in the past few days," says Dominique Montelli. According to the report that the small family circus, which was stranded in Kochel because of the corona crisis, urgently needs a new place to stay and is also worried about its existence, according to Montelli, many people have contacted them. Many donated food for the animals or helped the family financially, as they currently have no income due to the ban on performances.

Now the circus in Garmisch-Partenkirchen has found a new home for the time being. Tessy Lödermann from the animal protection association Garmisch-Partenkirchen got involved. She contacted Mayor Dr. Sigrid Meierhofer (SPD). After 15 minutes the call back came with good news: the family of fairground performers was given a place at the Hausbergbahn car park - an area that in the past was often used by large circuses such as Roncalli as a venue for performances. The square belongs to the market town, says Montelli. "As long as it is necessary," they were told, they could put up their caravans on the graveled area and pitch the stable tents. Electricity and water are provided. The animal protection association bears the costs.

Thankful for willingness to donate

The circus moved on Tuesday. Montelli and her family are grateful for the great willingness to donate. Aid offers came both from Kochel itself and from the region. In addition to the immediate donations, some farmers have also pledged to keep feed available for the animals in the near future. "We only need to pick it up if necessary," says Montelli.

Among the many offers of help was one from the "Boutique Hotel Lartor" in Unterammergau. Owner Christian Zott had offered the family a meadow right next to the hotel as a location. Her husband and circus boss Kevin Montelli looked at the property, Dominique Montelli explains. Since a gravel surface is much more suitable for a longer stay - for example when it rains - the family decided on the "local mountain". Because at the moment nobody can say how long she cannot give any ideas because of the Corona crisis.

Lödermann is enthusiastic about the helpfulness. She particularly emphasizes the town hall, including the regulatory and construction office, as well as the municipal works, where she immediately “ran open doors”. Nevertheless, she wants to avoid people going to the circus and delivering clothes or food on her own. That is why there are two accounts, one from the Montelli family and one from the animal welfare association. "Donating money would be more important," she emphasizes.

If you would like to continue helping the circus - for example with food donations - you can reach Kevin Montelli on 01 74/4 01 66 43. If you want to donate money, you can do this in two accounts: Montelli Circus; IBAN: DE49 600 100 700 712 517 703 or animal welfare association, keyword: circus; IBAN: DE03 703 500 000 000 046 003. (Donation receipt possible)
