In a few days it is clear who will be in charge of the official business in Emmering for the next six years. Because election campaigns are hardly possible in times of Corona, the Tagblatt gives the two run-off opponents the chance to introduce themselves again.
Emmering - The two candidates are still smiling at the election posters. On Sunday - when the results of the runoff election are known - only one will laugh. Then the decision was made whether Stefan Floerecke (CSU) or Fritz Cording (FW / party-free) would be the new mayor of Emmering. Before that, the two opponents are given the opportunity to take a stand again on three topics and to convince the voters of themselves.
Most important projects
Floerecke regards the problems of young and old as well as climate protection as the most important projects. Pupils from elementary and middle school should have their own cafeteria with attached industrial kitchen. The food comes from sustainable and regional cultivation. "There will again be a permanent contact person for the senior citizens in the town hall," plans the CSU candidate. He also wants to tackle and implement the cornerstones for a concept for senior citizens developed with the senior citizens' representative. Last but not least, according to Floerecke's opinion, an integrated climate protection concept is needed. The current state and the potential of the community should be analyzed. A catalog of measures should then develop from this.
For Fritz Cording, the current projects are in the foreground. First of all, the fire station, the forecourt and the traffic-calmed conversion of the main street would have to be completed. On his agenda, however, he also has the weekly market, a senior get-together, an energy-saving program and the optimization of after-school care.
Citizen participation
How can you better involve citizens? There are many options in this area, Cording believes. "I could imagine everything from citizen consultation hours to digital participation to project work." This way you could involve the citizens in a local development concept on the subject of the main street. As head of administration from Seefeld (district of Starnberg), he had already had good experiences with a similar project.
Web designer Floerecke, however, relies on analog and digital citizen participation. He wants Emmeringer to take part in decisions with an app and surveys. "I could also imagine a community report, where citizens can report broken street lights, for example." Personal contact is also important.
Emmering in 10 years
CSU candidate Floerecke is particularly looking forward to the newly built fire station and the redesigned forecourt. He imagines moderate residential development and attractive business - and wants to get the trucks out of town. His vision: "Emmering should become a modern, sustainable, generation-friendly, family and climate-friendly place."
For his competitor, things are going so well in the Amper community that not much will change in ten years, as he believes. "We are on the right track in terms of climate neutrality, club life and infrastructure." The school is also on solid feet. Cording's vision: a community with village identity and urban flair.
Election recommendations
The three other groups in the local council - the Greens, the SPD and the FDP - do not make any election recommendations. Only Robert Bauer, head of the FDP regional association, sees his party as more in line with the CSU. He jokes: "As far as digitization is concerned, I thought that they had written off our election program."
