Alarming: The percentage of jobseekers in the Israeli economy continues to climb - now stands at 23.1 • As of the beginning of March, 804,712 new job applications registered
The Corona crisis and the restrictions that are slowly tightening on the public have also led - and will lead - to a severe economic crisis in the Israeli economy. If we are not worried enough, the Employment Service publishes even more worrying data tonight.
The number of registrants this month in the Employment Service exceeded the 800,000 Israelis. The unemployment rate approaches a quarter of those employed in the economy, rising to 23.1%. According to the data, as of 17:00, 20,413 new job seekers were registered - a similar rate to yesterday's total (Sunday), which stood at 23,946, and to that recorded last Friday (21,932).
Overall, as of the beginning of March, 804,712 new jobseekers were registered, with 89.9% of them on paid leave. The total number of active job seekers in Israel today is 962,563 (including 160,000 active stabilizers from the period before the Corona crisis).
