Traffic jams and long detours because of the B15 bridge construction site: The Dorfeners had already prepared for a hard six months. But because of Corona everything is different now.
Dorfen - There will be no traffic chaos this year. Work on the renovation of the over 80-year-old B 15 Isen bridge in Dorfen should begin in April. The project was stopped for the time being because of the "unforeseeable further developments in the corona pandemic", the State Building Authority of Freising announced in a press release on Monday. The contract for Friday for the overall measure was canceled.
The building authority is now planning "to carry out the bridge construction in 2021 or, depending on the other construction work on the B 15 in 2022," the press release says.
The B 15 is the only efficient north-south connection in the area of the city of Dorfen. The bridge B 15 must be fully closed for bridge construction. The construction schedule envisaged a tightly scheduled construction site operation from Monday to Saturday from sunrise to sunset. Time buffers for disruptions "were deliberately not planned in the construction process in order to keep the blockage as short as possible", the head of the office, Hans Jörg Oelschlegel, informed in the statement.
At other bridge construction sites in Bavaria, problems have already arisen as a result of the corona pandemic, as foreign workers in particular can no longer come to the construction site. Major disruptions in the construction process for the Isen bridge would mean that the bridge can no longer be completed before winter as previously planned.
"As there is a lot of weather-related work at the end of the construction period, this work could only be resumed after the winter break," the authority writes. Material bottlenecks can also occur, says Oelschlegel. It was "correct in this case to postpone the construction work now".
The Dorfener had already been preparing for several months of traffic chaos, as the B 15 bridge was completely demolished and rebuilt in the same place. The cramped conditions at the site also make it impossible to build a makeshift bridge.
The new B 15 bridge will again be 32 meters long, with a central pillar and a widened carriageway. The structure will be moved about one meter to the east in order to achieve better visibility at the mouth of the Duke's ditch. In 2017, the costs were roughly estimated at over 1.6 million euros.
At the request of the city of Dorfen, the sidewalk is extended to a walkway and bike path on both sides to 2.5 meters. The city bears the costs. Mayor Heinz Grundner "welcomes the precautionary measure" of the client, said the city chief on request. A possible, incalculable extension of the construction period and the associated considerable traffic problems would be a "catastrophe".
In coordination with the State Building Office, the city in Dorfen will now prefer road construction measures planned in the B15 / Gartenstrasse area, Angermaier junction and relocation of the B15 / junction to the supermarkets towards the Lidl entrance. This would not be possible during the bridge construction work, "otherwise one would not have been able to move forward in Dorfen".
The postponement of the new construction of the Isen Bridge is a special case due to the particularly serious effects. The other projects of the State Building Authority are to begin as planned. Construction of the carriageway on state road 2330 between Schröding and the district border to Landshut is due to begin in the district of Erding at the end of March. The conversion of the connection of the state road 2082 to the B 388 in Erding, which has been ongoing since 2019, is also to be continued.
