Anyone living under the same roof with a corona infected person should strictly adhere to rules of conduct. But even washing your hands is not as easy as you might think.

Freising - Strict measures are taken to ensure that as few people as possible get the corona virus. Completely isolating oneself from the outside world is very rare. To keep the risk of infection low, some rules should be followed. "Small things make the difference," says Freising's pharmacy spokeswoman Ingrid Kaiser. An overview of the most important "Do's" and "Don'ts" in the times of Corona.

How do I shop correctly and safely?

Think about it: even though almost all of your everyday life takes place in your own four walls, most people still have to go shopping. According to Kaiser, however, this should not be done every day, but specifically - and without hamstering.

Certainly: Most supermarkets now have distance markings in front of the checkout, but the aisles between the shelves are narrow. "You should calmly address people when they get too close," says Kaiser.
Protected: It also makes sense to take kitchen paper with you so that you don't touch the handle of the shopping basket or the handle with your bare hands. The cloth is then disposed of in the garbage. After shopping, it is also the only time that Kaiser recommends disinfectants. "And you should also clean the steering wheel in the car more often." If possible, you should pay with a card instead of cash.

Without gloves: the spokeswoman for the pharmacy thinks nothing of gloves. "Ordinary rubber gloves can always have small pores." Viruses would also collect there and then be distributed further. "Gloves, just like a scarf over your mouth, have only one useful effect: You can no longer touch your face." Anyone who wears gloves for shopping should wash their hands anyway - just like someone who is on the go without gloves . Therefore Kaiser's appeal is: "Let us leave the gloves to the nursing staff!"

Hygiene continues at home: anyone who comes home with their purchases should first wash their hands thoroughly. Then the purchases are cleaned up - and the hands are washed again. There is no need to worry about the virus sticking to fruit or vegetables. It would also be destroyed when cooking. Washing hands should also be a fixed ritual before doing any kitchen work.

Washing hands: how is it going - and how do I best care for my hands?

Washing: Washing hands is the most important thing at the moment, emphasizes the pharmacy spokeswoman: about 30 seconds and definitely with soap. "The corona virus is a so-called enveloped virus that can be rendered harmless with soap." But you shouldn't drink it at all, emphasizes Kaiser. The water temperature doesn't matter; Their recommendation is “pleasantly warm”. Drying should not be underestimated. "Viruses tend to stay on wet hands - by a factor of 1000." The towel should be changed daily.

The care: The many washing stresses the skin. "Children in particular are currently having more eczema," reports Kaiser. Without proper care, the pH of the skin would be destroyed, germs could penetrate better. "The skin is our biggest defense organ." Care is therefore essential. During the day, Kaiser recommends a moisturizer that absorbs well. In the evening, while watching TV or before going to bed, a rich cream with a high fat content is advisable. Ointments with perfume would also irritate the skin. "The best thing is simply a neutral cream."

I live with someone who has become infected under one roof. How do we behave right now?

More and more people are testing positive for Covid-19. Those who do not have a difficult course cure themselves at home. In order not to endanger the family, some rules must be observed, Kaiser emphasizes. Basics: "The person concerned must be spatially isolated." It is also important to regularly ventilate the room. If the patient cannot do this in his room himself, one should make sure to keep the minimum distance of two meters. Even if that is not possible, "a protective mask makes sense - but they are few and far between". The same applies if meals have to be brought to bed. "Otherwise you just put it on a chair in front of the room."
When eating: Of course, healthy and sick people should not eat together. Anyone who is infected should have their own dishes, which if possible should also be kept separately. Wash dishes and cutlery thoroughly after meals, hot and with detergent, goes without saying.

Legal corona party: The “Zoom” video conference platform is an excellent way to bypass the contact block during this time. More information is available at www.zoom.us, alternatively there is also the option of group video calls using popular services such as WhatsApp and Skype or on iPhones using the "FaceTime" function.

In the bathroom: Households - and most of them - that do not have two toilets, let alone two bathrooms, should do what Kaiser generally does on public toilets: "Only handle door handles with a paper towel." The toilet should always be thorough be disinfected - that also works with Klosterfrau Melissengeist. After showering, proper ventilation is required: "Humid air is an invitation for the virus." Hygiene etiquette: Anyone who is ill should cough in a handkerchief and then dispose of it - preferably airtight in a plastic bag, so that the viruses do not spread everywhere can distribute. An infected person's laundry should, if possible, be washed at 60 degrees or higher. Kaiser recommends disinfectant fabric softener for less high wash cycles.
Communication: "Actually, I'm not that much of a technology fan," Kaiser admits. Currently, smartphones, laptops and social media are ideal for keeping in touch. Those who are sick should also communicate with the people in their home. The pharmacy spokeswoman emphasizes: "Again: if you are infected, you have to stay in your room - otherwise it will be a pure corona party."
