US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo presented a plan on Tuesday, March 31, called "a democratic framework for Venezuela ." It is an agenda to get out of the political crisis that has plagued the country for several years, and which has dramatic repercussions on the economic and social situation of Venezuelans. Riots have broken out in recent hours in several parts of the country to protest fuel shortages. These are due to the dilapidated oil installations, while production, which was over three million barrels a day, has dropped to probably less than 500,000 today.

The plan provides for the dissolution of the National Constituent Assembly, composed exclusively of Chavistas, to restore legislative power to the National Assembly. The latter will be responsible for appointing a five-member government council, which will assume executive power and organize a presidential election within six to eight months.
