London (dpa) - The airline British Airways (BA) is releasing tens of thousands of employees because of the ongoing corona crisis. A corresponding agreement was reached on Thursday, said the Unite union.
According to a BBC report, this affects more than 30,000 cabin and floor staff as well as technology employees.
Most of the BA fleet is currently on the ground due to the coronavirus pandemic. Most flights have been canceled. However, there should be no unpaid forced leave and layoffs, as the union announced. The released employees receive part of their salary payments until further notice from a government pot.
