Geneva-Sana

The World Health Organization has warned that conditions related to the outbreak of the Corona virus emerging in Syria are dangerous because it represents a destination for visiting religious shrines.

Acting representative of the World Health Organization in Syria, Dr. Neama Saeed Abdul, said in an interview with "Newsmaker" program on Russia Today channel that so far, few cases have been recorded, including two deaths, as a result of the infection of the new Corona virus "Covid 19" in the Syrian territories in general, but we are assessing the situation It is dangerous due to two reasons. The first is the nature of the injuries, as almost all of the citizens returning from abroad were monitored, which means that their number may be greater.

Saeed Abdul pointed out that the second reason lies in the fact that Syria is characterized by a very important privacy, as it hosts two honorable shrines, namely the shrine of Sayyida Zainab and the shrine of Sayyida Ruqaya in Damascus, and it is a destination for many visitors from the countries of the region where the epidemic appeared on a large scale, especially Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and Pakistan.

He said, "The entry of the virus into Syria is very possible, and this matter actually happened," warning that "the effects of the epidemic will be high as a result of the exceptional circumstances that the country suffers from for more than nine years."

Saeed Abdul had confirmed in an interview with SANA yesterday that the reality of Corona virus infections in Syria is at the beginning of the upward curve and that the high or low number of infections depends on the firmness of citizens' commitment to the measures taken by the government to address the virus.

In the interview, Saeed Abdul expressed optimism about Syria's ability to respond to tackle the virus and prevent its spread despite the difficult circumstances it is going through due to the ten-year war, pointing out that the World Health Organization is working towards lifting the coercive measures imposed on Syria that affect the health sector and strongly advocates for that.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Interior allocated the toll-free number 193 on the fixed and mobile phones to receive communications around the clock from the governorates

All about people who enter Syria illegally. The director of the ministry's public relations office, Major Yassin Sarhan, said that the aim of this is to arrest people who enter Syria illegally, subject them to quarantine procedures and take legal measures against them.
