Sport connects people and cultures, it is said repeatedly in slogans of large sports associations. The city made it clear in 2012 that the statement was not just a platitude when it awarded its first sports integration promotion prize.
Fürstenfeldbruck - Since then, however, it has been quiet about the award, which is only given when a prize winner is proposed. This year the prize will be awarded again and there are two winners.
Last year, Willi Dräxler (BBV), integration consultant of the city council, brought the sports sponsorship award back out of the water by bringing two possible award winners into play. He proposed TSV West for the youth area. "The club has a high proportion of members with a migration background, a friendly and family atmosphere and is committed to the integration of refugees." The sports club from Bruck West already received the first integration award in 2012.
In the adult area, Dräxler suggested Dirk Hasenjaeger. He organizes the “Refugee Cup” twice a year - a football tournament for refugees from the Fliegerhorst anchor center. He also coordinates the sports facilities for the refugees in the dependance. He strengthens their team spirit and brings different nations together, says Dräxler about Hasenjaeger.
In mid-February, a jury, consisting of Mayor Erich Raff (CSU), Dräxler, sports officer Martin Kellerer and representatives of clubs and the sports advisory board, decided to split the prize money of 1,000 euros. 800 euros go to TSV West, 200 euros to Hasenjaeger. Dräxler plans to award the integration prize annually in the future.
Originally, the award should have been given at the athlete's ceremony at the end of March. Due to the corona measures, however, this must now be made up at a later point in time, which is not yet known.
