(CNN Spanish) - Cuban opponent José Daniel Ferrer was released, as confirmed by his brother Luis Enrique Ferrer to CNN.
The renowned opponent, who is the founder of the Patriotic Union of Cuba (Unpaco), was arbitrarily detained on October 1, 2019, according to family and friends at the time. And they denounced that he received inhuman treatment. His brother Luis Enrique said at the time that "they have been subjecting him to torture, brutality of all kinds."
Due to Ferrer's arrest, the governments of Cuba and the United States were verbally confronted. While family and friends denounced the situation of the opponent, the Cuban government pointed out that everything is a lie conceived and directed by the United States government.
