In Bernried it is being considered to create a second town center in the "Oberdorf" next to the old town center in the "Unterdorf". The focus is on the station forecourt.
Bernried - In September 2019, station owner Jürgen Kindervater presented a draft for a structural extension on the station forecourt. Accordingly, a residential and commercial building was to be built - directly next to the station building in a south-easterly direction. The new building would be particularly important for the chocolate factory housed in the station. Only with extended rooms does it make sense for the company to hold on to the location.
Criticism had an effect
However, the design proposal was not very well received by the local council. Walter Westermeier (SPD) in particular complained that the planned new building, due to its proximity and dimensions (the structure was only one meter lower than the train station), would have a massive impact on the "solitary situation" of the listed station as a free-standing building. Westermeier's criticism apparently had an effect: Kindervater has now presented a completely changed design via a new planning office. The conceptual design now envisages placing the residential and commercial building (around 33 meters long and 9.5 meters high) opposite the train station on the eastern side of the station forecourt. The adjoining building there, which is also a listed building, is to give way and be moved 90 degrees to the southern end of the square.
Praise from the mayor
"This is a compatible solution - without interfering with the tree population", Mayor Josef Steigenberger praised the revised planning in the municipal council. The space character is "most clearly defined" by the chosen arrangement of the building.
Historic station building
Westermeier was also satisfied: "The solitary situation of the station building is preserved with the new planning." The SPD council also suggested that the new building should not protrude too far in the direction of Bahnhofstrasse. From the east, the line of sight of the historic station building should be preserved.
Blessing for preliminary notice
The municipal council finally unanimously gave its municipal agreement for the application for a preliminary ruling made by the child's father.
