The United States surpassed the mark of 300,000 cases of new coronavirus on Saturday, according to the count of the American university Johns Hopkins. The pandemic has killed at least 8,162 people in the country, according to the university's online dashboard.

The milestone of 200,000 cases identified in the country had been crossed only Wednesday, an acceleration made visible by the greater availability of screening tests in the United States.
The main focus of the American epidemic is New York State, and in particular the city of New York, which has recorded 1,905 deaths alone.
