History in the UK due to the Corona virus: Queen Elizabeth II made a (first) speech to the nation for the fourth time in all 68 years of her term.

Apart from the annual blessing that is broadcast every year for Christmas, the only times the Queen turned to the British nation were in 1991 during the Gulf War, after the death of Princess Diana in 1997 and a special speech after the death of her mother in 2002.

In a pre-recorded speech but broadcast on all the British networks and radio stations throughout the Kingdom, the Queen said: "I know these are difficult times. This has led to financial difficulties and changes in our daily lives.

"I want to thank those who are in the lead - to the medical and police teams who continue their work even during these difficult days and guard us all. Your appreciation for your hard work brings us closer to returning to routine. And I also want to thank all the citizens who stay at home.

"If we stay united we can win the virus. In the future we will unravel what is happening today, the self-discipline of all of us is what defines us as British. These are the moments when the British nation unites. .

The queen also said this situation, of the Corona spread, reminds her of the speech she made with her sister when they were children in 1940, when they spoke to the British children who were evacuated from their homes or forced to stay in homes following the German bombings in London.

"Today there are people who feel the same feeling. But we know it's the right thing to do, to stay home. Unlike the 1940s, this time we're joining the whole world in a joint effort to fight the virus and we will succeed. And that success will belong to us all." At the end she said: "The good old days will be back. We will be back to our beloved friends and families."

The 93-year-old queen, who left London's Buckingham Palace two weeks ago and moved to Wenzador Castle due to the virus, is in voluntary domestic isolation, mainly due to the fact that she is in a significant risk group because of her age.

Last Thursday, her son, Prince Charles, posted a video in which he also addressed the nation for the first time since recovering from the Corona virus he was diagnosed with two weeks ago, saying: "As a nation, we are now facing many challenges that affect our entire lifestyle. We can't know when the situation will end, but until then we can try to keep ourselves, our loved ones, and especially pray for better days. "
