Authorities in eastern Libya announced the first confirmed case of coronavirus infection on Tuesday, despite border closures and a curfew to prevent the epidemic from entering their territory .
Libya has recorded a total of twenty confirmed cases, the other cases having been recorded in the west of the country controlled by the government of national understanding (GEN), recognized by the international community.

The forces of Marshal Khalifa Haftar, who controls eastern Libya, have been trying for a year to take Tripoli, the capital, and the epidemic of coronavirus has not ended the fighting, despite calls from the United Nations and the humanitarian agencies.
