The UK has recorded an additional 786 deaths from coronavirus in 24 hours, a new record, bringing the country's death toll to over 6,000, the government announced on Tuesday.

A total of 6,159 patients died in hospital after being tested positive for Covid-19, the ministry of health said. 213,181 people were tested at Covid-19, 55,242 of whom tested positive.
