Coronavirus: the police at the bedside of transferred patients

The security forces secure the transport of evacuated patients to less “tense” regions.


Since March 17, police and gendarmes have patrolled to enforce containment and save time against the epidemic. They are also mobilized in the sprint of the transfer of patients from the “energized” regions (Grand Est, Ile-de-France) to the less affected sectors. This security of transfers is more discreet but just as essential.

According to the Directorate General of Health, more than 550 critically ill patients have been evacuated since March 18. Thus on April 1, for the dispatch to the West of patients from ten Ile-de-France establishments, the Paris police headquarters mobilized nearly 180 civil servants, in the capital and in the outer suburbs. Twelve of these patients on the Chardon 5 train, named after an organized disaster medicine exercise
