Within the framework of the governmental measures taken to tackle the new corona virus, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has allocated the Al-Assad University Hospital in Damascus to receive cases suspected of contracting the virus and provide medical services to patients free of charge.
The hospital has been fully prepared to receive the mentioned cases and allocate a trained medical staff to deal with the suspected cases, as Dr. Hussein Al-Muhammad, General Director of the hospital says in a statement to SANA, confirming that all necessary protection and protection have been provided to the medical staff from “protective suits, medical glasses, head protectors and specific silences” According to the level of dealing with patients, indicating that the hospital was chosen to provide its qualified infrastructure and to limit treatment to one hospital in order to prevent the spread of infection.
Dr. Al-Muhammad pointed out that a medical point has been allocated to the hospital entrance equipped with a complete medical staff to sort the patients first according to their condition, especially those who suffer from symptoms of “high fever, cough, throat pain and shortness of breath” and then transfer them to one of the two clinics that are also designated for conducting the required investigations, namely the Infectious Diseases Clinic And the regular ambulance cases clinic is where it takes place
Careful examination and interrogation of the patient. In turn, Dr. Marwan Al-Halabi, a member of the Central Committee in the Ministry, to address the Corona virus, pointed out that a hot line has been allocated between university hospitals in Damascus to transfer all suspected cases to Al-Assad Hospital and stop all cold operations, whether in Al-Assad Hospital or in other university hospitals that are now receiving only emergency operations. Establishing a unified medical protocol issued by the Ministry of Health by the Medical Consultative Council for Preventive, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Dealing with New HIV Cases, indicating that all special procedures for dealing with it are completely free.
He noted the precautionary measures taken by the government to address the Corona virus in Syria even before any HIV infections were recorded, expressing his hope that it would contribute to controlling it and creating a flattening curve of its spread, until we pass the epidemic stage, stressing the need for everyone to adhere to these measures.
The Ministry of Health had designated the National Hospital of Zabadani in Damascus countryside to be a center for medical isolation and treatment of those infected with the new Corona virus.
