US Senator Bernie Sanders withdrew from the American presidential race today, winning the Democratic primary for Joe Biden, who will face Donald Trump in the presidential elections next November.
According to the French Press Agency, his campaign team wrote in a statement today, "Senator Bernie Sanders announced during a call with all his team that he will suspend his presidential campaign" and added the statement: "The campaign ends."
With this, Sanders, who was leading a left-wing campaign, clearly ends his second attempt to win the Democratic nomination after a series of defeats against Joe Biden, who was former Vice President Barack Obama.
The independent Senator-elect of Vermont had lost the Democratic primary in the run-up to Hillary Clinton in 2016.
