The Iraqi government announced that a tremor measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale was recorded in the Kalar district in the Sulaymaniyah governorate in the north of the country.

The Sumariah news site quoted the Iraqi Ministry of Transport as saying in a statement that "the Iraqi Ministry of Transportation observatories recorded an earthquake this evening in the Kallar district in the Sulaymaniyah governorate," adding that "its strength reached 4.1 degrees and that the citizens felt it."

The ministry indicated that no damage was reported from the tremor.
