Against the backdrop of tens of thousands of deaths in Italy, Spain, the United States and China, New Zealand has emerged as one of the few countries to successfully deal with the Corona virus so far.
It is an island state with only 5 million inhabitants, which managed to evade the first wave of the epidemic and decided to act swiftly and resolutely by imposing a national closure, which is still ongoing.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern noted that "we have reached a turning point, and your commitment means that our program is working." Despite the positive data, Ardern announced that every citizen returning from overseas would have to spend two weeks in an approved facility.
