Chief of Staff, Major General Aviv Kochavi, made his recommendation to Brigadier General Hisham Ibrahim to record the IDF Beacon on the 72nd Independence Day in the State of Israel. The chief of staff's recommendation was approved by the chairman of the Ministerial Committee on Symbols and Ceremonies, Minister Miri Regev.

Col. Ibrahim, a member of the Druze community, commenced last year on the design of "Bnei Or", also known as Brigade 460, which is the Shari'a Corps training brigade. The brigade includes the Armor School (Bislash), located at the Shizafon base in the Negev .

In his previous positions, he served as Lieutenant Commander of "Hutsut Galilee", Commander of the "Iron Fist" Brigade, commander of the "Shalah" battalion under the design of "Bnei Or" and commander of the "Volcanic" battalion. He joined the Armored Corps in 1996, where he served as a fighter and commander.

Col. Hisham Ibrahim holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Rufin Academic Center as part of the Horizon program for military personnel and a master's degree in national security from the University of Haifa. He is married and the father of four.

Chief of Staff, Major General Aviv Kochavi, justified his recommendation to Col. Ibrahim to light the beacon: "Major General Hisham, the commander of the Druze School of Armor, is his personal story and commanding officer over the years, a symbol of connecting different groups and sectors serving Hisham, an outstanding officer, is an example of the IDF's army, which provides equal opportunity to all its servants. Throughout his years in the IDF, Hisham has been striving to work voluntarily beyond the scope of his duties. He focuses the spirit of volunteering on weak populations and on connecting with Israeli society and the IDF. I am proud of Hisham's choice to light the IDF Beacon on 72nd Independence Day.

An IDF spokesman said: "Col. Hisham Ibrahim has been working for many years to strengthen the connection between the IDF, the people's army, and all parts of the people. He works to encourage recruitment and integration of all sectors, works to strengthen the Beit Gil project, under which the divisional soldiers are headed by him to help children with special needs. He has been volunteering for many years for special populations. His diverse social work brings to life his extraordinary personality as an officer, as an Israeli and as a person. His voluntary spirit and mutual guarantee, carried on his shoulders proudly, strengthen the spiritual armor of the people of Israel.
