Duisburg / Mülheim / Düsseldorf (dpa) - After raping an 18-year-old in Mülheim an der Ruhr in July 2019, the Duisburg district court sentenced three young people aged 15 to youth sentences.

One of the accused was sentenced to two years and six months, the court said on Thursday. The other two defendants were given 18 months' suspended sentences. However, the two have to be in permanent arrest for four weeks. The board benefited from the fact that they have no criminal record. The judgments against the 14-year-olds at the time of the crime are not final.

The trial was completely closed to the public because of the juvenile age of the accused. The judges were convinced that one of the accused and a then twelve-year-old friend persuaded the later victim to meet in the forest in July 2019.

It was clear to everyone involved that sexual acts would occur, the court said on Thursday. However, when the two other defendants and another twelve-year-old were later added, the 18-year-old made it clear that she no longer wanted to. Nevertheless, there was sexual intercourse. The young woman also had to be slapped in the face, the court said. No investigation could be carried out against the two twelve-year-olds, since they were not yet punishable at the time of the crime.

The fall of Mülheim had caused horror nationwide in the summer. The fact that the two youngest suspects never even went to court caused debates about when to be under the age of no punishment. The city of Mülheim also failed several times to expel the main suspect's family to Bulgaria. At the last minute, the parents repeatedly presented the necessary documents for a job.

In the process of group rape in Düsseldorf's Hofgarten, three young people have to go to prison. The Düsseldorf District Court sentenced her on Thursday to juvenile sentences between two and two and a half years in prison without parole. A fourth defendant was acquitted. Two 16 and 18 year old defendants were sentenced as rapists and robbers. A 15-year-old girl was given two years in prison for robbery and rape aid. Her 16-year-old friend was acquitted, court spokeswoman Elena Frick said.

The judges were convinced that the trio lured, robbed and raped the 51-year-old into the park on the night of June 8, 2019. The suspects had denied this and claimed that the woman had had sex with them voluntarily. But the judges believed the victim.
