Curfew! An almost obsolete term which evokes in the subconscious the Occupation and the Army of shadows, by Jean-Pierre Melville. And yet. Like the black market (that of masks) or the pass (the attestation of derogatory displacement), it is back in France, war against the Covid-19 requires. In the Gard, half a dozen municipalities are affected by this prefectoral decree, which prohibits any exit between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. This is to enforce containment in all places, including the most sensitive, and to avoid gatherings, catalysts of infection.

Saint-Gilles is one of those cities under a night curfew. We accompany the men of the Nîmes gendarmerie surveillance and intervention platoon (Psig), equipped and trained for muscular interventions. In the city center, no problem: it's a ghost town, with closed doors and closed shutters. Apart from stray cats and dogs, no living being ventures
