(CNN Spanish) - Mexican actress Ana de la Reguera presents the series “Ana”, based on herself, in which she shares situations from her daily life with fantasy and humor. Comedy Central and Amazon Prime Video are released for all of Latin America.

“I'm 43 years old and at the time I wrote the series I was 37, and many older women told me how difficult it was to reach 40, that's why I wrote it. I don't have to depend on an age, I have to reinvent myself. I have to evolve and fortunately - and it will sound super-cool - 40 has been my favorite age, more than 20 and 30. It has been when I have worked the most and that is when I have understood the most who I am, ”says De la Reguera.

"Ana" is an inspiring comedy, without reservation, that breaks down taboos and outdated concepts about the role of women in society. In this comedy, themes related to love, auditions or screenshots in Hollywood, sex, marijuana and, mainly, the pressure to satisfy everyone's expectations appear. This combo will make the audience have fun in every episode.

How did the idea of making 'Ana' come about?

Ana de la Reguera
“It was a very different process than what I am used to because it is an idea that I had 7 years ago and it took me all this time to carry it out from a very specific moment in my life that we all have ups and downs in our career. and we question how we are living our life and from that I wrote the series. The strangest thing was the chapters with my family, or recreating the moments of home in Veracruz, it was very stressful for me to tell the setting people how my mom would put the furniture. It was a very strong therapy to capture it and share it with so many people. ”

Ana de la Reguera explores various “Anas” that she had never dared to be: LesbiAna, MarihuAna, AnciAna, MarrAna, HermAna, AmericAna, HumAna, BanAna, VeterAna and VeracruzAna. Everything told through a voice that breaks patterns, that of Ana herself.

You face a very young youtuber in the series, but you did not grow up with social networks, but would you have dedicated yourself to them?

Ana de la Reguera
I grew up watching television and imitating artists. I recorded all the videos on MTV or every Sunday watching "Always on Sunday" and I spent hours imitating the choreographies of my favorite artists. Now that I see Tik Tok, I realize that I would have been a master and a super influencer. I have a lot of respect for the people who do it.

How much fun did you have doing the series? Because you even grudge ...

Ana de la Reguera
Being from Veracruz, I grew up listening to reggaeton from the 90s, which was part of my life. We listened to “El General”, that's how I grew up. Fascinates me. In the first episode there is a song by a vegetonera from Veracruz called Krysttal. My mom always made fun of me because she always danced and sang and I reflect it in the series. My friends feel sorry when they play a song in the supermarket and I start dancing. It's stronger than me.

Each episode of the series contains a musical number by artists such as Rosalía and C. Tangana, Residente, Francisca Valenzuela, Fito Páez, Kany García, Naty Peluso and Ali Gua Gua, among others.

Ana de la Reguera has participated in film and television. Her most recent starring role was in the original Amazon Prime Video series "Goliath." We also remember his recurring role in "Power" and his special participation in "Narcos" and "Jane the Virgin". She is also known for her performance as Sister Encarnacion alongside Jack Black in the comedy "Nacho Libre" and in the critically acclaimed series "Capadocia" by HBO.

“Ana” premieres in Latin America on Comedy Central on Monday, April 20, at 9 pm (for the entire region) and on Tuesday, April 21, through Amazon Prime Video.
