The Chinese Foreign Ministry called on US officials to stop politicizing the Corona epidemic file and to stop publishing conspiracy theories on the origin of the virus.
Commenting on recent allegations by some US officials that the virus originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, Xinhua quoted a ministry spokesman, Geng Shuang, as saying that determining the origin of Covid 19 is scientific, dependent on scientists and medical experts, but should not be politicized.
Geng added that scientists and public health experts from the World Health Organization and most countries, including the United States, generally believe that there is no evidence to suggest that the new coronavirus is laboratory prepared.
Geng pointed out that the director of the Institute of Virology in Wuhan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences denied the unjustified and illogical allegations by the American in this regard, stressing that the institute has "strict regulations" and recalled what the director of the institute affirmed that none of its employees was infected with the disease And that all members devote themselves to research work.
The Chinese spokesman described the allegations made by some US officials in this regard about "conspiracy theories" as irresponsible and that would harm the existing cooperation between scientists in both countries. Geng said: "It must be realized that the enemy is the virus, not China, and that the primary priority of Americans will be to focus on prevention." Yuan Ziming, director of the Institute of Virology in Wuhan, earlier confirmed that there was no truth in the accusations and allegations made by US President Donald Trump to the institute about responsibility for the outbreak of the emerging corona virus and said: “It is impossible that this virus came from us and we know exactly what kind of research It takes place in the institute and how viruses and samples are dealt with. ”
It is noteworthy that Trump, who is facing severe criticism for his treatment of the Corona virus, has tried hard to blame China and the World Health Organization for the outbreak to cover up his failure to confront its spread in his country, which has killed tens of thousands of Americans.
