Montevideo-SANA

As of yesterday evening, the number of newly infected Corona virus in Latin America exceeded the threshold of 100,000, in addition to about 5,000 deaths.

According to an AFP statistic based on official figures, the total number of injuries yesterday in the group of Latin American countries reached 100,952 injuries, while 4942 deaths.

Brazil, with a population of 210 million, recorded the largest number of injuries with 38,654 injuries and 2,462 deaths, although experts believe that the number of injuries is much greater than the stated number given the few tests that were conducted.

The International Monetary Fund last Thursday issued a stark warning about the consequences of the spread of the epidemic in the region, saying it was facing the worst recession since the 1950s, with an estimate of 2.5 percent growth contraction this year.
