Emergency government now, annexation immediately afterwards Israel today

In the current state of emergency there is no room for further elections

From a historical perspective, the soon-to-be new government has three major gaps: the first is that after nearly a year and a half of uncertainty and three tedious electoral campaigns, the government that was established in 2015 will open its way to a new government - in its line long awaited citizens of Israel.

The second is the end of the Netanyahu era. The prime minister yesterday signed the deadline for his term as prime minister, after nearly 13 years in power. What Tzipi Livni, Buzzy Herzog, and Yair Lapid were unsuccessful - veteran politicians who tried to present a government alternative to Netanyahu and failed, succeeded Bani Gantz, inexperienced, when he sat in the prime minister's office for 18 months.

The third is the annexation of the communities of Judea and Samaria. Netanyahu has already entered the history books as the prime minister who served for the longest time since the establishment of the state and very much wanted to be remembered as the one that ended the Iran nuclear threat. However, if he is unable to do so for the remaining year and a half, he will not give up one achievement: annexing Judea and Samaria and applying Israeli sovereignty to them and the Jordan Valley.

Since the Six Day War, Israeli governments have applied Israeli law to the territories only twice released: Jerusalem and the Golan Heights. Netanyahu will be the third prime minister to do so, leaving a significant legacy for the following day.

In the state of emergency where the state is located there is no room even to think of further elections. Despite the tempting polls and various advice he received, Netanyahu decided not to drag the state again into an illogical and impossible election campaign and to sign the agreement with Benny Gantz, despite the heavy personal price he would pay for it.

Benny Gantz, unlike his former party members, also understood the size of the hour and made the toughest decision for him since entering politics, and probably, at least now, has also earned the whole jackpot. While Lapid and Lieberman continue to falter and cast doubt on the process, last night Gantz accepted half the monarchy and responsibility for running the entire state later.

Following the signing of the agreement, Netanyahu spoke with Naftali Bennett and Rabbi Rafi Peretz, updated them on his details and asked them to enter the government despite their injury. Whatever the price, Netanyahu must not give up his partners. To the right, on its incarnation, they have come a long way with it, sometimes in an unfamiliar way, and in the face of severe personal tensions, only to avoid dismantling the right block. If, at the end, the two walk apart, it may be a cry for generations.

Many and weighty issues are at stake, which although they will now be postponed because of the Corona, will soon return and follow. These include the continuation of the disastrous judicial revolution, the revision of the legal and legal systems, the prosecutor's office and more. A government of the selected composition will not rush forward, but it is hoped that at least it will not withdraw the small changes that have already been reversed.

I wish there was someone innocent enough to rejoice in the news of the reconciliation cabinet being decided under the agreements. However, while this is an amiable and harmless clause in the agreement, another clause, infuriating and boiling, remains to be spared despite the public outrage. The prime minister should have served a survivor apartment, that's clear. But why does his place need it? And in a time of economic crisis with one million unemployed and thousands rejecting mortgage payments.
