The possible Oktoberfest cancellation would be the first after 1949 - but not the very first. In 1813, just three years after the premiere, the Oktoberfest was canceled because Bavaria was involved in the Napoleonic Wars. Even after that there were cancellations: among other things because of cholera epidemics in the years 1854 and 1873, the Prussian-Austrian war in 1866 and the Franco-German war in 1870. And of course the Oktoberfest did not take place during the two world wars . It started with an autumn festival in 1946 , and the celebration was not held as an Oktoberfest until 1949.
