After this crime of rare violence in Lebanon, a manhunt was launched, according to a security source, and Hassan Diab called to speed up the investigation. The reasons for the drama were not specified. But the deputy Marwan Hamadé, originating from Baakline, deplored "an honor or vindictive crime", and evoked a single murderer who according to him would suffer from "psychological disorders" . He did not provide further details.
According to the security source, the lifeless bodies of six Syrians, including two children, and three Lebanese, including a woman, were found in a house and at various locations in a wooded area of Baakline in the Chouf region. Preliminary police investigation indicated that eight victims had been shot and the only woman killed with a knife, the same source told AFP.
It did not specify whether the nine victims were related or the reason for the crime. Some 2,000 Syrians live in Baakline according to local authorities.
