Coronavirus: how the NFL draft will change 1:57
(CNN) - The 2020 NFL Draft, first performed virtually, was held Thursday night and, as expected, the Cincinnati Bengals chose former Louisiana State University quarterback Joe Burrow, with the first general selection.
The Bengals' head office didn't need to think about it too much, as Burrow's spectacular final season at LSU positioned him as the best option.
Burrow's precision was on display throughout the season and ended the year with a 76.3 complete pass percentage while he threw for 5,671 yards and 60 touchdowns with just six interceptions.

And he did it while proving that he can shine on the big stages. In three postseason games in college football, Burrow shot for an absurd record of 1,305 yards, 16 touchdowns and zero interceptions while leading the Tigers to a National Championship over Clemson in the title game.
"Enough talking," Burrow wrote in a tweet, in response to the Bengals' welcome tweet. "It's time to get to work."
This is the first time in the common draft era that a Heisman Trophy winner was selected No. 1 overall in three consecutive drafts.
Bengals coach Zac Taylor spoke briefly to Burrow before being selected, and his message was clear: “You have brought all the teams you have played for a championship, and that expectation does not change now that you are a Bengal. , and I'm looking forward to going through that process with you. ”
"Ready to train," Burrow told Taylor. “I am tired of all the conversations. Ready to start working again. ”
The virtual draft replaced what was to be an outrageous event planned along the Las Vegas Strip, the famous avenue, with thousands of attendees. The league was to transport players by boat to a stage at the Bellagio Fountain.
However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, plans changed.
Players, coaches, general managers, analysts and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell connected live from their homes. The 32 teams also participated remotely.
With live sports canceled in the US In the USA, the virtual draft is the closest thing to an event hungry sports fans could see.
"Obviously we are organizing this event in a very different way than we anticipated when we started," said Goodell, who announced the picks from his basement, in an interview with ESPN before the draft. "Unfortunately, we are not in Las Vegas, but we are all in our homes and we do it remotely and we do it within regulations without exception."
Although Burrow was unable to shake Goodell's hand and cross what was supposed to be an extravagant stage in Las Vegas, the quarterback is still fulfilling his dream of making it to the NFL.
