In the current period, " many young people are currently living in hell, " said Marlène Schiappa in an interview with Liberation , " either because they are confined with homophobic parents who do not know that their child is gay, bi or lesbian. , or because they have already come out and sometimes experience real persecution in their homes ”.

The Secretary of State for Equality between Women and Men said she had " released 300,000 euros to finance 6,000 hotel nights during confinement " to " allow young people facing homophobic violence to be protected " . She also confirmed that LGBT people in difficulty could give the alert in the pharmacy or write an SMS to 114, as is possible for women victims of violence.

The secretary of state also claims to have intervened to " speed up " the reopening of the hotline of SOS Homophobia, " suspended due to technical difficulties ", and "to support " the association Contact and its telephone line for families.

The government also funds " up to 50,000 euros " the application launched Friday morning by the association of police and gendarmes LGBT, FLAG !, which aims to report acts of violence.

The association stressed in a press release that the number of facts recorded by the police and the gendarmerie "in no way reflect reality " because " many are the victims who do not file complaints by apprehension or faced with the difficulty of obtaining convictions ”.

The free application is intended for “ victims ” and “ witnesses of physical or verbal LGBTphobic violence, serophobia, domestic violence, especially in LGBT + couples, whether on the internet, at home, on the public highway or at work ”.

Its deployment was accelerated " because of the violence identified in recent days, " says FLAG!

On this platform, " the act of violence is characterized, dated and localized ". At the end of the report, the victim is "referred to the appropriate interlocutors ".

However, the user remains anonymous - he only enters information on his age group, socio-professional category and gender and it is up to him to contact the suggested contacts, specifies the association with AFP.

" These reports will feed the most precise cartography possible facilitating the work of the public authorities to effectively develop public policies ", specifies the association, which adds that a " sociological study " will be carried out annually by a scientific committee.
