The freedom of movement that will be left to Italians this summer is still uncertain, and it is not until Sunday or Monday that they should know more. The answer is eagerly awaited, as August is the time of reunion for the scattered families. And as the country's economy depends on a sector that generates 232 billion in revenue, or 13% of national GDP and 4,200,000 jobs. To allow the sector to restart, the government has already authorized the preparation of the sites for a reopening.

As each country will impose a quarantine on any foreigner arriving on its territory, the Under-Secretary of State for Tourism, Lorenza Bonaccorsi, has already hinted, in line with Ursula van der Leyen's recommendations, that the Italians will have to pass their holidays inside the territory. Large north-south transhumances will be discouraged, even if Italians who own a second home should be allowed to go there.
