Holzkirchen - Around 600 Holzkirchner contributed ideas for the planned redesign of the station forecourt. The results are published on the homepage of the market municipality, as was announced in the last meeting of the still acting municipal council.

As reported, the market town and a specialist office have been collecting suggestions for months about what the station area should look like in the future. In the online survey alone, 38 participants commented on the greening of the station forecourt. Four wanted a beer garden, four a café, three maximum greening. Which ideas should and can actually be implemented will only show in the next few months. As soon as the corona crisis is over, there will be two steering rounds, an award workshop and a preliminary judge's meeting before the draft is finalized. So a long process.

More on the topic: The results of online citizen participation in detail

That came out

With a total of around 1400 contributions, mobility and car parking are the most popular topics. It becomes clear that everyone wants more space. More comfortable bike and footpaths are on the wish list of many, more space in the streets leading to the station, more covered bicycle parking spaces or even a bicycle parking garage. Drivers also want a parking garage and underground parking facilities. After all: hardly anyone wants a car-free area. Implementing all wishes should be difficult because there are conflicting goals in all categories.

That is what it means

That doesn't matter, emphasizes Matthias Burgbacher, Managing Director of the supervising Plan: Cooperative, in the presentation of the results, which can be seen on Youtube. "It was about collecting ideas." "There are a lot of very good ideas." Based on this, the process can now continue.

Burgbacher also emphasizes that it was not about numbers. "It was not a vote." If many participants raised a topic, it does not necessarily mean that it will be implemented. It makes no difference whether more participants have spoken out in favor of the café or the beer garden, for a parking garage for cars or one for bicycles. These decisions are still being made.

Who was there?

This is because the results are far from being representative. "That wasn't the goal either," says Burgbacher. Only a small part of the Holzkirchner took part in the collection of ideas. There were almost 600, says Burgbacher. That would correspond to around four percent of market residents between the ages of 16 and 90.

In addition, the clear majority of users who stated their age in the survey are between 40 and 59 years old. The website had around 100 people in this age group - significantly more than, for example, young people under the age of 19. There were only four participants here.

It continues like this

The process is getting serious on July 8th. Then Burgbacher and his office are to present the key points of the award at a procurement workshop in the Oberbräusaal, which they will then work out together with the town council and steering committee. Around 70 participants, from schoolchildren to people with a migration background, will comment on the results of the online survey in working groups. Then it becomes clearer in which direction the result should go. However, this will probably not be finally determined until next year.

Results and application

The details from the online citizen participation are available at www.bahnhof.mitprechen.com. You can also apply for the award workshop there until June 15.
