Munich - The colossus, which will make its way through the middle of the city to Sendling this weekend, goes beyond all dimensions: Since Friday evening and until Sunday, a heavy transport with a mega-gas turbine has been rolling from the A99 connection Munich-Neuherberg to the power plant South in Schäftlarnstrasse .

Over 500 tons in total, distributed over a length of almost 90 meters - and all at a snail's pace , with a day off on Saturday . "What would be an hour's drive by car takes a weekend in the giant convoy," says Stadtwerke spokesman Michael Solic.

The 20-kilometer route leads from the north (Ingolstädter Straße) along striking points such as Odeonsplatz, Stachus and Theresienwiese.

Manufacturers, transport companies, municipal utilities in Munich and the police worked together intensively for the logistical challenge.

How dangerous the coronavirus is can only be seen from the unreported number of infected people. A study is therefore now taking place in Munich - our editor is participating as a subject.

Stadtwerke München once advertised with the slogan: "Our heart beats around the clock." One of these hearts no longer beats. The former chief of the municipal utility company and chairman of the tenant association, Kurt Mühlhäuser, has died.
