At about 1 a.m. today (25th), officers of the Special Duty Squad of Yau Tsim Police District conducted a raid on No. 3 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui after smashing suspected unlicensed bars in an upstairs unit based on the line report and in-depth investigation. During the operation, the agents arrested 43 people and seized drugs, spirits and beer worth about 33,000 yuan in the unit. The arrested person is being detained for investigation.

Police said that during the operation, the personnel seized about 35 grams of suspected ketamine, 6 grams of suspected cocaine, 17 suspected ecstasy (commonly known as ecstasy), 7 suspected nitrazepam (commonly known as Wuzai), and 28 spirits. (About 28,000 yuan), 207 cans of beer (about 2,100 yuan), and about 20,000 yuan in cash.

A 46-year-old male person in charge of the bar is suspected of "trafficking dangerous drugs", "unlicensed sale of alcoholic beverages", "unlicensed possession of alcoholic beverages for sale" and violation of "Prevention and Control of Diseases (Regulations and Instructions) (Business and Premises regulations (Chapter 599F) (Regulations) were arrested. In addition, three bar staff members aged between 25 and 42 were arrested on suspicion of "trafficking in dangerous drugs", "unlicensed sale of alcoholic beverages" and "unlicensed possession of alcoholic beverages for sale".

Another 39 bar customers, aged between 18 and 58, were arrested on suspicion of "trafficking in dangerous drugs" and "drinking alcohol without a license". They may also have violated the Prevention and Control of Diseases (Prohibition of Group Gathering) Regulations (Chapter 599G).

The police stated that under section 17 (3B) of the Dutiable Commodities Ordinance (Chapter 109 of the Laws of Hong Kong) and section 25A of the Dutiable Commodities (Liquor) Regulations of Chapter 109B, the person in charge of the premises must have a valid liquor licence before selling and Provide any kind of alcohol for customers to drink in the premises, otherwise they can be arrested by the police. Upon conviction, the maximum fine is HK $ 1 million and imprisonment for 2 years.

According to Article 32 of the Dutiable Commodities (Alcoholic) Regulations, Chapter 109B of the Dutiable Commodities Ordinance, Chapter 109 of the Laws of Hong Kong, the maximum fine for drinking alcoholic beverages in places where no valid liquor licence is obtained is a fine of HK $ 2,000.

(The "Regulations") stipulates that the scope of the meeting venue for purely or mainly used to sell or supply intoxicating alcoholic beverages for people to enjoy locally must be closed. Those who violate the above regulations commit criminal offences, and can be fined up to 50,000 yuan and imprisoned for 6 months. The Prevention and Control of Diseases (Prohibition of Group Gathering) Regulations (Chapter 599G) stipulates that group gatherings of more than 4 persons in public places are prohibited. Anyone who violates the regulations may be fined 2,000 yuan.
