Coronavirus in Argentina: with the backing of the Government, the UIA and the CGT, they will cut suspended workers by 25% of wages

In an agreement sealed on Monday afternoon with the endorsement of the Casa Rosada, representatives of the CGT and the UIA agreed that workers suspended by the coronavirus quarantine will collect 75% of their wages in April and May.

In the recitals of the agreement, to which Clarín agreed , it is maintained: "The enactment of a norm that guarantees predictability of the income that workers should receive and provides security to companies to continue their activities is necessary."

And both parties say: "It is agreed to advise the following. The issuance of an instrumental rule that establishes certainty regarding those people who cannot provide their usual services, providing that in such a situation the situation will be considered as a suspension framed in the terms of Article 223 bis of the Labor Contract Law (LCT) and / or any equivalent institute provided in professional statutes, law 22.2250 or collective labor conventions.

The term of this suspension will be up to 60 days, with effect from April 1, 2020.

"The amount that employers must pay as non-remunerative benefit or the money allowances that are delivered in compensation for suspensions of the labor benefit in this framework may not be less than 75% of the net salary that the worker would have received in the event of have worked. On this amount all contributions and contributions by law 23660 and 23661 and the payment of the union fee must be made "

The agreement bears the signatures of the head of the UIA, Miguel Acevedo, and his vice Daniel Funes de Rioja. And of the cegetistas Andrés Rodríguez, Antonio Caló, Carlos Acuña, and Héctor Daer.

The Ministry of Labor told Clarín that they will analyze the agreement and that if everything is correct it will be approved.
