Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, commander of the Libyan National Army, announced that the Skhirat political agreement on the situation in Libya had been suspended in response to the Libyan people's calls, describing the agreement as "the suspect who destroyed the country and led it to dangerous slopes."

Haftar said in a televised speech today, according to the Al-Wasat portal website, "We announce the suspension of the political agreement so that it becomes part of the past by the decision of the Libyan people, the source of the authorities," stressing that protecting the rights of the Libyan people will be one of the army's priorities.

The agreement was signed between the Libyan parties in the Moroccan city of Skhirat in 2015.

Hifter also announced his acceptance of the Libyan people's will to delegate him to defend his rights and create conditions for building permanent civil state institutions, pledging to work to the utmost to protect the rights of the people and achieve their aspirations and aspirations for liberation, independence and the elimination of terrorism.
