As part of the effort to preserve the testimony and legacy of the Yom Kippur War, the Yom Kippur War Center opened a campaign of documentary evidence of war fighters in preparation for the Memorial Day for IDF fallen victims and hostilities.

"Almost 47 years have passed since the Yom Kippur War, and unfortunately many young people today know almost nothing about the war," says Lt. Col. Rami Swat, head of the association. "The generation of fighters who carried the heroic action - from defensive to offensive to victory on the battlefield - Added years. "

"About two years ago, we gathered - warriors and graduates of all the forces of the forces, the field men, who looked up to the inferno and fought for the home, with great courage and sacrifice - and decided it was time to act and strengthen awareness of the difficult times in the Israeli wars, to salute heroically, to remember the fallen. A center that will gather information and chapters of war and political history from the war, will serve as a guide to the history of war for future generations and to deepen extensive research on the war, respect the memory of the fallen and be a place of honor for the bereaved families. The Municipality of Netanya expressed its readiness to allocate the land to the center and the proceedings have already begun.

This week, the association launched a campaign to gather testimonies from Yom Kippur war fighters and their families. "The war on memory and heritage is ours now, especially in the days of the Corona. It will also be won as we won the campaign in 1973," says Swat. "It is of the utmost importance to preserve the valor of the warriors and to salute the fallen. A people without a past cannot look to the future. As someone who fought on the battlefields, injured and even lost many friends and friends, I urge all of Israel to bow their heads on Memorial Day with the families and salute Independence Day to the fighters and members of the forces Defense. We won our independence because of them. "

The association calls for 73 fighters and their families to share their personal battle stories on the Facebook page and the association's special website
