Karlsruhe / Kassel - In the case of the murder of Kassel government president Walter Lübcke , the Federal Attorney General has now charged two suspects: the main suspect Stephan E. and his alleged supporter Markus H. This was announced by the federal prosecutor's office in Karlsruhe on Wednesday (April 29, 2020). The trial is to take place in Frankfurt am Main before the State Protection Senate of the Higher Regional Court. The court has yet to admit the indictment.

Stephan E. is said to have killed the Kassel government president Walter Lübcke at close range on his terrace in early June 2019. The CDU politician had campaigned publicly for the admission of refugees, which is said to have raised E. The 46-year-old had initially confessed to the crime and also led the police to his weapons warehouse. He later withdrew his confession.

The alleged supporter of the murder of Walter Lübcke , Markus H., is charged with aiding and abetting the murder. The 44-year-old is said to have put E. in contact with an arms dealer and, among other things, to have encouraged his acquaintances through joint target practice in his project. E. meanwhile accuses H. of being with Lübcke on the night of the crime . H. it was also who gave the fatal shot - by mistake. The investigators don't believe that. They are convinced that E. was alone with Lübcke.

The 64-year-old arms dealer had also been in custody for more than six months. E. is said to have got the murder weapon from him in 2016.

The federal prosecutor had therefore also accused him of subsidies. In the meantime, due to the large time interval, it is questionable whether the man could have guessed at the time what would happen to E. He is therefore free again and not charged.
