Coronavirus in the Southwest, private patrols as backup

With its surf shops, jewelry stores, clothing stores and trendy concept stores, downtown Hossegor (Landes) is a paradise for vacationers who love shopping. But in times of containment, these closed stores are a tempting target for thieves.

To prevent rather than cure, the merchant association of Hossegor has been calling, since March 13, on a security company to operate night surveillance of its shops. An officer conducts patrols in avenue du Touring-Club and the adjacent streets, in order to identify possible intrusion attempts.

“ A Tarbes owner (130 km from Hossegor, note) told me that some of the town's shops had been robbed. This is what pushed me to take the lead, ” says Claude Wable, president of the Hossegor merchants' association, herself the manager of a children's clothing store. His colleagues immediately approved the appeal
