The riders' recover 'Piazza San Carlo on the day of the Workers' Day, in a deserted Turin, blocked by the measures to contain the Coronavirus. On strike to denounce the "shameful conditions in which they are forced to work", some of them hung a banner in the historic square where the union procession ends every year on May 1st, with the inscription "1st May Riderz, strike in all the cities".
"CGIL, CISL and UIL don't show up. Vittoria rider at the table" writes the Turin collective of riders Deliverance Project, as a provocation towards the unions that, according to some of them, have not dealt enough with the problems of the workers of the gig economy.
The same protest also in Bologna. A group of riders, the food delivery staff, made a presence in Piazza Nettuno, in the center of Bologna, on the occasion of the Labor Day. They displayed a banner saying 'We are not heroes, we are workers. Rights, income, dignity '. On Labor Day, they went out into the square. Even in Turin the cyclists protested with a bicycle parade.
