The final session of the Citizen's Climate Convention, which was to be held in early April, will take place from June 19 to 21, before presenting its work to fight climate change to the government, she announced Monday.

" The objective is to be able to reunite the members of the Convention physically at the EESC " (Economic, Social and Environmental Council) in Paris, if " the evolution of the health situation " allows it, according to a press release from the Governance Committee. " This session will be the last before the report of the Citizens' Climate Convention is delivered to the executive, " said the press release.

The 150 citizen members of the Convention, from all over France and from all walks of life, have been working for six months on measures to “ reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% by 2030 in a logic of social justice ”. Emmanuel Macron wanted this new initiative in France not to repeat the error of a carbon tax deemed unfair, which had pushed the yellow vests on the roundabouts.

In mid-April, the Convention sent 50 proposals to the government to help reflect on the changes necessary to avoid experiencing another deep crisis, this time a climate one. These measures are not public but they go in the direction of investments towards “ future sectors respectful of the climate ”, of “ relocation of the activities on strategic sectors ” with as concern “ our health and our well-being collective ”.
