(CNN) - The world has been through a lot this year. It started with the death of Kobe Bryant, then the Internet exploded into memes about World War III, and not long after, the coronavirus pandemic literally changed life as we know it.

Now there is something else we can worry about: a giant insect, the largest hornet in the world, that can kill a human by just biting it a few times.

Meet the Asian giant hornet, also known as the killer hornet.

For the first time, a giant hornet was discovered in the United States, specifically in Washington state, scientists recently said.

And it seems that Twitter didn't take the news too well.
