The idea may lend a smile, but it is however a reflection of the times: the price of gold has indeed reached its highest in seven years ... Across the Channel, Eric Loth, founder from Graham Watches, therefore had the idea of integrating a mini Swiss gold bar (only one gram) at 9 o'clock, on the dial of this edition limited to 50 copies of its Chronofighter Vintage. For the record, this Emergency Gold even comes with a mini-hammer, just to break the ice in an emergency! The brand also undertakes to replace the crystal of this watch free of charge if one of its owners should arrive there. This imposing British timepiece with its 44 mm diameter also features an automatic chronograph movement with 48 hours of power reserve.

While the price of gold, a safe haven if any, continues to rise, the wink is well seen. The idea is reminiscent of another, that of watches offered to mark the obtaining of a diploma, or the creation of a business. A tradition which has unfortunately been lost but which deserves to be resuscitated, as Zenith did in 2013 with its El Primero Espada Graduate Special: on the back of this watch then offered at € 6,200, was a gold medal weighing 5 grams dedicated to entrepreneurship, which could be detached without jeopardizing the waterproofness of the case.
