Moustafa al-Kazimi, former Iraqi intelligence chief, won the confidence of masked and gloved deputies due to the coronavirus overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, forming a government after five months of vacancy in a country going through its worst economic crisis and social.

Out of 329 deputies, only 255 had made the trip to give their confidence to fifteen ministers on a cabinet which normally has twenty-two. Key positions in Oil and Foreign Affairs are still vacant for the time being, even as Iraq is going through the worst economic crisis in its recent history after seeing its oil revenues - its only source of foreign exchange - divided by five in a year.
