The Hong Kong Law Society held its annual general meeting on the 28th of this month and elected 5 directors. The registration period ends today (6th). The two teams of lawyers described as "enlightened" and former volunteer lawyers assisting anti-amendment protesters today joined the Law Society to submit an application form.

Earlier, the three teams from the two teams announced their candidacy, including "Human Rights Lawyer" Lin Yangmeng, together with anti-amendment volunteer lawyers Peng Haoxin and Cai Ziyun; Committee member Huang Yaochu, a total of 6 people compete for five director positions.

The two sides successfully coordinated before the registration deadline, and Cai Ziyun, who is part of the "Lin Yangmeng List", announced her withdrawal. She said that the two teams have strengths in each other. It is better for the entire campaign to work together. Therefore, after discussion, it was decided that the remaining five people should stand for election. Then go behind the scenes to continue to assist the election work.

The Law Society Council elects the five most senior directors each year, including Xiong Yunxin, Ma Huarun, Huang Wujiehua, Zhuang Weilun and Luo Ruide, but the latter two will compete for re-election. It is reported that Simon McConnel, a partner of Qili Law Firm, Gong Haixin, the Standing Committee of the External Affairs of the Law Society, and Yan Kunying, a consultant lawyer of Xiao Zhenbang Law Firm, are all interested in running for election.
