The Russian Foreign Ministry has expressed Moscow's concern over information about an attempt to land a group of mercenaries in Venezuela to carry out terrorist attacks against the legitimate authority in the country.
"We view with concern the news about the attempt by a group of mercenaries to land on the territory of Venezuela to carry out terrorist acts against representatives and leadership of the legitimate authorities in this country," Sputnik quoted the State Department as saying in a statement.
Venezuelan television earlier in the day broadcast confessions of the American Luke Denman, who is being held in Venezuela, who was one of the masterminds of the attempted coup against the legitimate authority in the country.
President Nicholas Maduro announced yesterday that one of the American detainees who tried to enter the country to carry out a coup d'etat was working as a bodyguard for President Trump.
Maduro said in a tweet via his Twitter account: “One of the detainees in the first testimony confirmed that there are two American citizens within the invasion group and they are from the Presidential Personal Guard Team.”
