The 18th Japanese infection case in Hong Kong so far has been zero. The total number of infected persons is 1,045, and a total of 940 persons have been discharged. Among them, three women across generations met each other in the isolation ward because of the epidemic. They include a young office worker who is one of the infected people in the Lan Kwai Fong group, a family member of the same group of infected people, and a retired woman who traveled between Hong Kong and Britain. After recovery, they took the initiative to invite "Hong Kong 01" reporters for an exclusive interview, detailing dozens of days and nights spent in the Eastern Hospital 11E isolation ward.

In early March, retired Wu Tai was visiting her long-lived children in the UK and found a slight cough. She has been paying attention to the news of the epidemic, but she thinks that her age is normal, and she doesn't pay special attention to it. After the British government announced the "group immunization" policy, Wu Tai received a text message from her family doctor. She said that the short message said that if there is anything, do n’t go to the clinic for medical treatment, and the patient should be isolated at home.

"This short message made me fearless." Numerous news reports about the epidemic made her panic. In addition, she believes that the local government advocates the treatment of young people first. "This seems very inhumane. The elderly also contributed to society in the first half of their lives." After consulting with her children, Wu Tai decided to buy a ticket to return to Hong Kong and began two weeks of home isolation. Wu Taichu did not have a fever, but his throat was unwell. But three days later her body began to feel cold. She finally called the Department of Health to arrange for admission to the Eastern Hospital.

Mrs. Wu showed reporters a short message from the family doctor's clinic. If the patient had flu symptoms or had been to the new coronary pneumonia epidemic area, he should never go to the clinic or call. The clinic only requires patients to download a mobile app. (Provided by the interviewee)

He said, "Don't worry! But we also prepared a ventilator for you."

The doctor decided to disconnect the medicine in the early morning and teach the family to make a video call "I will thank him all my life"

On the first night of admission, Wu Tai was initially diagnosed. Late in the night in the single isolation ward waiting for the final test results, her blood pressure rose to more than 200 degrees. At 2 a.m., Dr. Long, who was in charge of new coronary pneumonia, called for consultation within five minutes and immediately prescribed medication for her. She said that because she had "three highs" and was older, she was at high risk of contracting pneumonia.

The next morning, Wu Tai was diagnosed and began to worry about not seeing her family. The doctor then took out the phone and immediately taught her how to make a video call with her family. "Let's say, if you want to use this system or the system, you'll get it. Oh, I really appreciate it!" Wu Tai sighed. It was all up to the doctor to make the decision, so I had a chance to live to this day. "I really thank him for my whole life and take me out of the fear of fear." Wu Taiyi recalled with a smile, "He said" Don't worry! But we also prepared a ventilator for you. ""

In the ward, the "three generations in the same house"

After staying in a separate isolation ward for two nights, Mrs. Wu was instructed to transfer to a four-person isolation ward. Dr. Long explained that since the same room is a patient with new coronary pneumonia, there will be no cross infection. "He said," We hope that in the ward, you will help each other. "

The rehabilitation person, Miss Hu, suffered from illness while eating dinner with her old colleagues in Central in March, and was later transferred to the 11E ward where Mrs. Wu was. "At the beginning, she would cry, be unhappy, and startle." She initially shared the same room with several students returning overseas, feeling that they might complain more because of their younger age. "But after sharing the room with other people, I was happy and felt a lot better. Someone can chat and forget their original worries, which is a good thing."

Later, Ms. Hu was transferred to ward 11E, and it was lunch time when she changed rooms. "I immediately noticed that the atmosphere in this ward was very different. I saw Sylvia as soon as I went in. She was feeding a 96-year-old mother-in-law. She said," Mother-in-law, do you drink soup? I will help you with acridine. " The other party. "Sylvia and Miss Hu are the same" stroke "in the infection chain of Lan Guifang. Sylvia's family and Ms. Hu are old colleagues. The two and two other friends were infected at the same dinner and passed it on to Sylvia. The roommates were positive and harmonious. Ms. Hu felt optimistic and helpful to recovery.

The patients in the ward 11E accidentally became the birth of each other. During the rehabilitation, they supported each other. In the process of overcoming the difficulties, they learned to accept and enjoy. (Provided by the interviewee)

Diligently do yoga, drink soup and fruits to maintain the law of life

The life in the ward is actually facing a window, four walls, plus a nurse patrolling the room twice a day, and the doctor calls daily for consultation. At 7 a.m. every morning, the nurse enters the 11E isolation ward to measure blood pressure and body temperature for each person. They usually get up at 10 o'clock to freshen up and wash, and then boil hot water and divide fruits for those who are not up. Wu Tai is accustomed to listening to the radio and Sylvia is watching online news, and even working on a computer and having a video conference.

In addition to chatting and talking, Miss Hu and Sylvia also do yoga and exercise on the floor of the ward every day to maintain the law of life. The specific daily program is to eat together. Family members of the patients brought home meals and soup, and everyone will share it together. "We are trying to create a more positive experience in a less ideal environment." Sylvia said.

Why is it not me who left the hospital?

The most distressing thing is endless waiting. After the symptoms have almost disappeared, the patient needs to be tested for viruses every day, and the results of two consecutive tests are negative before he can be discharged. Sylvia said that the most painful thing is the daily "sniffing" test. The cotton swab must extend from the nasal cavity to the ear, but the test results are sometimes yin and yang. "It seems that I work hard every day to hand in my homework, but I don't pass it. At that moment, I actually felt very frustrated." Later, most of the roommates had already recovered and left, and Wu Tai couldn't help but think: "Why isn't that me? "

"It turns out that breathing is not inevitable. The illness comes down like a mountain, people are just a dust."

Wu Tai

Recalling the early stage of infection, Wu Taiyu had palpitations. During the interview, she repeated the word "fear" many times. When it was decided to return to Hong Kong, many people robbed their tickets together, and Wu Tai also had to transfer three times, departing from the UK, passing through Thailand, and then to Singapore, before finally arriving in Hong Kong. Traveling British students have protective clothing all over the body, while Wu Tai and her husband only have masks to protect them. "When I arrived at the Thai airport, I suddenly felt collapsed and very uncomfortable. At that time, I was well aware." She felt unwell after returning to Hong Kong. She called the Department of Health and asked for admission. Lou, panic the neighbors. Wu Tai's family can only see off in front of her house, and then she will fight alone.

It took about three to five weeks for the three rehabilitation people to fully recover. During this period, they stayed in the same four-person ward "without leaving home". (Provided by the interviewee)

Witnessed the 96-year-old mother-in-law's recovery from crisis and sent a kiss before leaving

In the last few months of staying in the hospital, one of the things that touched everyone most is about a 96-year-old mother-in-law in ward 11E. She is the oldest infected person in Hong Kong and belongs to the Buddhism infection group. Wu Tai, Ms. Hu and Sylvia witnessed her. She originally stayed in the intensive care department, wandered in the dead gate, and completely recovered and left the isolation ward. Her mother-in-law does not know Cantonese, she only speaks Hokkien. Others in the room can only communicate with her through body language and simple Cantonese words. Apart from helping her to eat, she also wanted to cut nails for her mother-in-law. Miss Hu said excitedly, "When she left the ward, she kissed us! It was so cute and made us so happy."

Sylvia believes that Hong Kong's anti-epidemic efforts have been successful because the government's case tracking and containment policies have worked. Facing the same dilemma, she hopes that the people of Hong Kong can unite as one. (Photo by Gao Zhongming)

Responding to netizens' accusations that people who returned to Hong Kong were selfish and contracted pneumonia

Critical voices say that Hong Kong people suffering from diseases abroad are selfish and should not return to Hong Kong. Wu Tai believes that people who have not experienced new coronary pneumonia may not be able to appreciate the mood of the returnees. But now that the virus is in danger, no one can ensure that the next one is not himself.

"Actually everyone will worry about their own health." Sylvia also described that some of the fellows give up their foreign visas or work opportunities to return to Hong Kong, and even make a will in their 30s, which shows how deep that fear is. Returning to Hong Kong has also been a struggle for many returning people.

Sylvia also felt that the first person in the infection group usually became the target. She does not blame her family for being infected with the Lan Guifang group, and then infecting herself. "Some people in Hong Kong will say that the infected person is" dead to death ", but in fact no one wants to get sick." She believes that some voices on the Internet have been stigmatized because of fear. "Then there is room to discuss this matter in public? How can we support patients who are recovering?"

11E Ward "Graduate": This gives me a kind of strength

"From the beginning to the end, I saw seven people discharged from the hospital, aged from 17 to 96, from different economic classes and family backgrounds. At this moment you are experiencing the same thing, and there are only more than a thousand people in Hong Kong with you Experience this together. You will naturally open your heart to them. "In ward 11E, Sylvia is the latest to be discharged, but all" graduates of the same class "are still in contact in the group. The three pneumonia recoverers are also happy to give back to the development of medicine, and they agreed to the doctor's invitation to participate in the medical research of new coronary pneumonia. Sylvia's message, Hong Kong people are facing the same dilemma, hoping that Hong Kong will be more united.

In the eyes of the news and the public, each infected person is just a number, but for this group of patients who have been together for decades and rushed from the trough to health and freedom, they are all alone.

"Our 11E patients are actually a lucky group. Dr. Long hopes that we can help each other, and we have not let down on him." Wu Tai said, "Here gives me a kind of strength. I was no longer afraid of things that originally scared me. "
