Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have expressed their common intention to provide mutual support to continue close cooperation between their countries to fight the outbreak of the Corona Virus emerging as Covid 19.
This came, according to a statement by the Kremlin, during a phone call made by Putin and Merkel on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the victory over Nazism and the liberation of Europe and the world from it.
The statement stated that Putin and Merkel pointed to the partnership of Russia and Germany in settling many urgent international issues and their aspiration to develop relations in a constructive manner and pointed to the symbolic importance of the memory of the victory over Nazism and the need to preserve the historical memory of its events.
The Russian President also stressed in letters of congratulations on the same occasion addressed to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, US President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron and other leaders the importance of this victory, which was done with the cooperation of the Soviet Union at the time and a number of other anti-Nazi countries and the urgent need to continue this cooperation in current time.
